I’m not usually one to post new product announcements, but having grown up an hour and a half from Detroit Rock City, this new guitar really caught my eye.
After a few years of speculation, Fender has just announced the release of a signature Stratocaster for legendary MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer.
Have you guys heard the buzz about ZT Amplifiers? Their Lunchbox amp has gotten a ton of good press lately, and now they’re creating more excitement with a sweet giveaway. They’re not giving away an amp, though. Rather, one lucky winner will walk away with a Fender American Standard Stratocaster!
If you’re into rock ‘n’ roll movies or documentaries, I highly suggest you check this out. According to the Rock Prophecies Facebook Page the DVD release date is Sept 14th, and the film will be airing nationally throughout the month of September on PBS.
BUT, to get you even more excited, the filmmakers are giving away a Fender Road Worn ’60s Stratocaster worth $1,199!
If you’ve been with GearPipe for a while (we’re nearly three years old!), you’ll remember that I used to post gear deals almost exclusively. Things have changed a bit, but I thought it would be fun to track down a few deals for those of you with some cash burning a whole in your pocket.

Bill Mendello, CEO of Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, had announced his retirement about a week ago. Certainly big news, but we’d all been waiting for his replacement to be announced to the public. Today, Fender revealed that Larry Thomas, a long-time Guitar Center employee and Chairman & CEO from 1996-2004, will take over the reigns of one of the most-respected guitar companies in the world.
